Our instructors specialize in the unique topics being offered this summer, and their passion can provide an exciting new perspective for you to enjoy.

"Hey...Give me a beat!" This YP favorite has been transformed to bring the experience to you in your own safe space. This virtual program will introduce you to Hip Hop as you learn and explore the Digital Audio Workspace software, creating your own instrumental production. Once you learn the ins and outs of producing your own instrumental, you will then have the opportunity to write lyrics or choreograph a dance. No previous musical training is necessary.

This virtual camp meets Monday - Friday online. Participants will need access to a device that can log into Zoom.

Comic Book Creation - Advanced (Hybrid)

Comic Book Creation - Advanced (Hybrid)

Do you love comic books? Ever thought of creating one for yourself? This hybrid virtual program will give you the tools you need to get started! From writing dialogue to inking and coloring, you'll learn the step by step process of creating comic books through idea generation, story development, script writing, layout, and illustration. You'll spend Monday through Thursday participating interactively online via Zoom (participants will need access to a device that can login). At week's end, you'll have the opportunity to meet outside in person to complete your work, bind your comic, and share! This program will have a materials kit of supplies available for curbside pickup or shipping (for an additional shipping & handling fee) prior to the start of the program.

Dungeons & Dragon Club (Virtual)

Dungeons & Dragon Club (Virtual)

Release your inner story teller all summer long in this cooperative game of fantastical adventures. Create your own hero and work cooperatively with other adventurers as you explore the exciting world of fantasy and overcome quests. This summer virtual club will challenge you to tap into your creativity, work collaboratively with others, and practice important decision making skills. Log on via Zoom and connect with your other club members as you roll in the fun while playing this game virtually and safely throughout the summer. Program includes a materials kit of supplies and will be available for curbside pickup or shipping (for an additional fee) prior to the program start date. Participants will need access to a device that can login. During the first week of the program, the club will meet twice online (Monday and Wednesday), and then the club will meet Wednesdays thereafter through August 20th (excluding the week of July 5th - no meeting that week).

Every box includes all you need to start creating your very own comic book at home or in your favorite outdoor space, as well as online access to videos of a YP favorite instructor's "How-to-Draw" videos. Don't delay, get on the road to becoming a budding comic book artist today!

The focus will be on nine lessons that will help you improve your skills, and give you the tools to continue to improve in the future. Learn about shading, negative space, creating compositions, and more. Every box includes all you need to create your very own drawing kit, as well as online access to videos of a YP favorite instructor modeling the techniques you'll be using. Go at your own pace, in your own space, and take your drawing to the next level!

Join us as we embark on challenges with the UMN College of Design this summer! This camp-in-a-box is designed to get participants thinking about design concepts around the idea of spaces and places, and take them through the main steps of the design process. Projects and activities in this box can include the topics of interior design, architecture, and landscape architecture. You'll receive access to online instructional videos with this camp-in-a-box. This camp-in-a-box will take aspiring designers through each of the main steps that graphic designers use during the design process. The box includes a main design challenge and mini-projects that explore the unique aspects of graphic design such as signs and symbols, and color and texture. The designers will take their work from initial sketches all the way to finalized designs with fun challenges along the way. You'll receive access to online instructional videos that can be done at your own pace.
