Open Play

Basketballs ($0.50) can be rented at the South Equipment Room and the North Equipment Room from Recreation and Wellness Center in Minneapolis and from the front desk at St. Paul Gym.

Basketball courts are located:

• Recreation and Wellness Center in Minneapolis in the MAC gym (4th floor, polyurethane)
• Recreation and Wellness Center in Minneapolis in North and South gym (3rd floor, hardwood) with 2 full length courts each
• Field House on the inside of the track, two courts (polyurethane)
• The St Paul Gym (hardwood)

• No shirts vs skins
• Pinnies are available
• No dunking or hanging on rims
• No fighting or using profanity
• Games are started by shooting for possession
• Games are to 11 points
  • 1 point per basket
• Continuation (and 1) is used for fouls in act of shooting
• Jump ball goes to the defense
• First 5-10 participants waiting will play in the following game
• Players officiate their own games
• Be mindful of time on the courts (respect other waiting to use the courts, share space appropriately)

Racquets ($1.00) can be rented at the North Equipment Room. Shuttlecocks may be purchased at the North Equipment Room.

Courts located:

• Third floor of Cooke Hall which is accessed via the skyway on the third floor on the north side of the Recreation and Wellness Center
• Additional courts are available in the North Gym.

• Before using your desired room, check the Mazevo RecWell Schedule to make sure the room is not reserved. 
• Be aware that these spaces are used for Group Fitness classes, CPR trainings, and more. If an instructor or staff member asks you to leave the room to allow for a reservation to continue as planned, please promptly vacate the room.
• If you are a student organization or sanctioned dance group, you must reserve the space to hold regular rehearsals. 

The Esports Lab is fully equipped for gaming with PCs, console systems, peripherals, and games. The use of personal peripherals is also allowed (headsets, mice, controllers, etc.)

The Esports Lab is located in the lower level of the North building at the Recreation and Wellness Center, Minneapolis (Room 19).

Respect others, the space, and equipment. Handle all equipment with care. Be mindful of time using equipment and spaces (share space and equipment appropriately). Set equipment to appropriate volume levels. No profanity or disruptive behavior. Follow the instructions of staff. 

Paddles and balls can be rented at the North Equipment Room for $0.50.

Courts are located:

• Outdoor pickleball courts are at St. Paul Gym
  • Free to use if open, no membership required

• Open Play is available daily. Check out the Open Play Mazevo schedule for availability
• Be mindful of time using the court (respect others waiting to use the courts, share space appropriately)

Balls ($0.25) and racquets ($1.00) can be rented at the North Equipment Room. Handball gloves may be purchased at the North Equipment Room.

Courts are located:

• The URWC Minneapolis facility features:
  • 7 glass-backed, international-size squash courts (singles)
  • 9 handball/racquetball courts
  • 2 additional courts can be converted for use as either national-size squash courts or handball/racquetball courts
• The St. Paul gym facility features: 
  • 1 handball/racquetball court
  • 2 additional courts can be converted for use as either national-size squash courts or handball/racquetball courts
  • SPG Courts may be reserved in-person or over the phone at (612) 625-8283

• Wearing eye guards is recommended due to the potential of serious eye-related injury

Balls ($0.50) can be rented at the South Equipment Room, the North Equipment Room, and the front desk at the Sports Field Complex.

Soccer fields are located:

• In the Fieldhouse (artificial turf)
• The URWC MAC Gym (4th floor, polyurethane)
• The University Recreation and Wellness Sports Field Complex (Dome, artificial turf)

• No hanging on goals
• No slide tackling
• No fighting or using profanity
• No food or drinks on the turf
• Games are played to 2 goals or 10 minutes - whichever occurs first
  • Winner stays on the field
  • If a draw, newest team wins
• First participants waiting will play in the following game
• Players officiate their own games
• Be mindful of time on the courts (respect other waiting to use the courts, share space appropriately)

Racquets ($1.00) can be rented at the North Equipment Room. Balls ($0.25) may be purchased for at the North Equipment Room.

All equipment we have available for rent can be found at the North Equipment Room, on the bottom floor of the North Building. If we do not carry what you have, please make a request to the North Equipment Room. If there is enough demand, we'd love to add it to our stock.

There are many spaces throughout our multiple facilities that offer room for you do a variety of activities. Check out all our rooms and locations to find a spot that's right for you! 

Tip: The best way to find out if the space will be right for you is to stop by our facilities. If you do not have a membership, request a tour! We provide tours during all open hours.  

We love to see our facilities used for a variety of sports. No matter what your activity is, you must adhere to our policies.

Our policies include, but are not limited to:

• Valid membership required 
• Shoes are required
• Upper body must be covered
• No punching, kicking, or strikes directed toward other people
