How to pre-register for group fitness classes:

(required during summer, fall, and spring schedules)

NOTE: You will need a valid FitPass to pre-register for classes. Purchase a Fitpass at shoprecwell.umn.edu or visit our front desk.

  • Click on the class you want to attend above. It will redirect you to shoprecwell.umn.edu.
  • Sign in with your username or account login.
  • Click the "Register" box with the date and time you want.
  • Click "Checkout" on the screen, and "Checkout" again in the pop-up window. You will receive a confirmation e-mail.
  • Arrive in class and tell the instructor your name.
  • Enjoy the class and repeat it in the future.

How to cancel a pre-registration
(After registering for your class, you are unable to attend and want to open up your spot)

  • Visit ShopRecWell and login with your username
  • Hover over your username in the upper right-hand corner and select "Profile"
  • Click the "Programs" tab on the left side of the screen

Description

Connect mind and body through Yoga Flow. This class is great for beginners and those seeking the mental benefits of yoga. All fitness levels are welcome.

Yoga Flow is a traditional yoga class that connects the breath to each pose. This class flows at a slightly higher pace than Restorative Yoga, allowing participants to focus more on movement and breathing. Instructors have completed 200YT and offer progressions and regressions all through class that suit any level of participant that may come to class.

Description

Restorative Yoga is a class focused on healing and relaxation. Come to class to unwind before or after a long day of work and class. Holding poses for a longer duration, along with the use of breath and support of props allows participants to bring deep relaxation to the physical, mental and emotional body. All fitness levels are welcome.

Restorative Yoga is perfect for those looking to do something great for their mind and body at a low intensity. It combines traditional yoga poses with healing and relaxation. Participants can expect a slower paced class, moving through fewer poses compared to a Yoga Flow. They will feel renewed and rejuvenated after completing this class. Instructors have completed 200YT at minimum.

Description

Combine traditional yoga poses and a high-intensity workout in Yoga Sculpt. This fast-paced class is great for fitness enthusiasts and experienced yoga fanatics. All fitness levels are welcome.

Of the yoga classes offered, this is of the highest intensity. Flow through traditional yoga poses, add in dumbbells and bursts of cardio leading participants to find themselves sweating and working all muscles. This fun take on yoga finds creative ways to move along to the beat of the music guiding the class. Instructors have completed a certification specific to this style of class.

Description

Core Flex is a low intensity class that allows the participants to work on their core strength, and flexibility. This class is perfect for those looking for a quick workout that will leave them feeling better than when they walked in. Perfect for all fitness levels.

In this 30 minute class, participants will be led through a quick and efficient core workout targeting all anterior and posterior muscles of the core. A dynamic, but light warm up would lead into 10 minutes of core focused exercise. The second half of the class participants can expect to stretch all major muscle groups. This could also change each week with the instructor picking a different group of muscles to focus on each week.

Description

Barre is an upbeat hybrid-workout class that involves elements of ballet, pilates, yoga, and strength training. This class is meant to elongate and strengthen your body, creating toned muscles. All exercise levels are welcome.

The hybrid style of this class makes it a great workout and introduces participants to a fun way to workout with all combined elements. Participants can expect a full body workout with both body weight exercises and light dumbbells to increase the intensity of movements. This class will challenge participants while allowing them to enjoy moving to the beat of the music. Instructors will have obtained a Barre Certification.

Description

Cardio Dance is a combination of different dance fitness classes that will get participants sweating while having a great time jamming out to music. Go, dance, have a good time, and you’ll get a great workout in! Open to all fitness levels.

The dance cardio class can take many different forms dependent on the instructor teaching. The class options include Zumba, WERQ, Barre, and Hip Hop Jam. This class will get the participants sweating while jamming along to some fun music that makes them want to move. This will allow for a variety of instructors with varying certifications to teach under this larger class umbrella.

Description

Body Pump™ is a barbell workout for anyone looking to get lean and fit – fast. Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, Body Pump gives you a total body workout. Instructors will coach you through the scientifically proven moves and techniques pumping out encouragement, motivation, and results all to the beat of your favorite songs! All fitness levels are welcome.

BodyPump is a crowd favorite that creates a fun, energizing environment with the everchanging music and tempos used in each class. With the unique barbells and changeable weights used, participants have the freedom to select the amount of weight they would like to challenge their body with on each track. This creates the motivation for participants to come back week after week and see what level of intensity they can reach as they grow stronger. Instructors have earned a BodyPump certification from Les Mills prior to teaching this class.

Description

This full body workout uses high work-to-rest ratios to get the most out of workouts. This is a high-level workout, but all fitness levels are welcome.

High intensity interval training uses high work-to-rest ratios to create a total body strength and cardio workout. ACE-Certified Instructors have the freedom to structure this class with varying interval lengths, movements, and equipment. Dumbbells are the most popular pieces of equipment but BOSU Balls, gliders, and resistance bands are among the many options that can take these classes to another level. Progressions and regressions are provided to make each exercise approachable for all levels.

Description

Get ready to work at a high intensity as you move through stations focused on Upper Body, Lower Body, Core Strength, and Cardio. Time to put in some work with a group and get your sweat on! All fitness levels are welcome!

Every class contains 4 or 8 stations, completing each station 2-3 times per class.

  • Cardio (Amount of Time, 60sec, 45sec, 30sec)
  • Upper Body Strength
  • Lower Body Strength
  • Core Strength

In this circuit-style class, there will be multiple stations of strength and cardio exercises. These stations will each focus on either Cardio, Upper Body Strength, Lower Body Strength, or Core Strength using a variety of equipment. Each station will last for a pre-set amount of time or a preset number of meters/reps at the cardio station. The class will be led by an ACE-certified instructor, preferably with HIIT experience. Those who teach this class will go through an orientation/workshop about the class and what the expectations are for the instructors. This will outline how the class should run and will show how to best provide the participants with instruction and feedback.

Take cardio fitness to the next level by biking along to the rhythm of the music. Adjustable resistance makes this class perfect for all fitness levels.

This rhythm based cycle class would be a 45 minute ride along to the beat of the music. Differing from a power based cycle class, participants' cadence would match the tempo of the music as intensity levels shift from one song to the next. Unlike the traditional cycle class currently taught at RecWell, this class could feature an upper body workout utilizing the different positioning and movements a cycle bike offers.
