Lifeguard Training
All RecWell Lifeguards must be certified through the American Red Cross Lifeguard Program. We offer the full Red Cross Lifeguard Certification course as well as a Red Cross Lifeguard Review course for those already certified.
Prerequisites:
Minimum age: 15; swim 300 yards continuously; tread water for 2 minutes using only legs; complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds by starting in the water, swimming 20 yards, surface dive to depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10 pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on back to return to the starting point.
Class Description:
Provide entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Participants who successfully complete the lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid 2 years.

This is all one course.
This course is for those interested in becoming certified as a lifeguard for the first time. The class is approximately 24 hours spread out over multiple days and includes an online blended learning portion to be done prior to the class start date.
Cost for RecWell Employees - $100.00
Cost for Non-RecWell Employees - $200.00
$100 Refund will be given to class participants who are hired as RecWell Lifeguards after becoming certified!

CPR/AED and First Aid Training
RecWell offers CPR/AED and First Aid training through American Red Cross (CPR Professional Rescuers Certification). All classes are hybrid format (online portion and an in-person portion). The in-person component is approximately two hours long. The online portion is approximately 90 minutes and needs to be completed prior to the in-person training.
Classes are offered every month and the calendar will be updated monthly with new course offerings.
CPR and First Aid training is required for all RecWell employees.

ACE Group Fitness Instructor Training
ACE GFIT Instructor Training:

GFit instructor training is a 6-week training program designed to give students the required knowledge and skill sets to help pass the American Council on Exercise (ACE) Group Fitness Instructor Exam and safely and effectively lead HIIT group fitness classes at University Recreation and Wellness.
Cost: $100 (Includes Prep Course and First Aid/CPR certification but study materials or exam voucher must be purchased separately)
ACE Personal Training

The Personal Training Prep Course is an 8-week training program designed to give students the required knowledge and skill sets to help pass the American Council on Exercise (ACE) Personal Training Exam and safely and effectively lead personal training sessions at a variety of facilities and fitness levels.
Cost: $100 (Includes First Aid/CPR certification but study materials or exam voucher must be purchased separately)
