Rent Outdoor Gear!

The Center for Outdoor Adventure rents to everyone including the general public and the University of Minnesota community. Stop by and let us know how you plan to venture out!

Reservation Requests

Please fill out a Reservation Request Form
Submitting a reservation request does not guarantee an order - requests are subject to gear availability.
Reservation requests can be made anytime online or over the phone Monday through Friday 10am - 6pm (closed Saturday and Sunday).
It is preferred that customers submit an online reservation request form. Our staff will contact you to confirm your reservation We will process reservation requests in the order they are received.
Payments can be made in-person at the time of pick-up or over the phone in advance. We only accept card payments.

Gear Pick-Up and Drop Off

We are located at 244 SE Walnut St.
Orders may only be picked up or dropped off Monday through Friday 10am - 6pm (closed on Saturday and Sunday).
Roof rack cross bars are encouraged for any canoe rentals.

Gear Rental Policies

Late returns will be charged at the rate corresponding to the additional days rented.
Items damaged or lost are subject to the cost/repair of the item.
We are currently only available for rental pick up and drop off Monday through Friday 10am-6pm (closed on Saturday and Sunday).
Full payment must be collected at the time of reservation for bikes, watercraft, or orders with 4 or more of a single item.
The COA does not accept cash or check payment.
Equipment returned damaged will be subject to the replacement or repair cost of the item.
Orders returned earlier than the scheduled end date will not be eligible for a refund regardless of whether the equipment was used/unused.

Purchase Used Equipment

Looking to buy your own gear? The COA is now selling used equipment on a rolling basis. We are selling stand up paddle boards, camping equipment, cross country skis and more. For more information, give us a call or send us an email - [email protected]

Tax-Exempt Orders

To begin the process of renting gear for your group, reach out to Ben Phaneuf at [email protected]
Group orders include tax-exempt organizations, schools, businesses, or University of Minnesota departments that require an EFS payment.
Group orders must be made at least 2 weeks out from the specified pick-up date.
A 50% deposit is required on group orders, with the remaining balance due upon successful return of the order.
Groups will pay using their organization's tax exempt purchasing card or University of Minnesota EFS transfer. Payment via invoicing can be arranged upon request.
